THE STRANDING
Found on Holden Beach with her head completely split open, right eye exposed from the inside.
THE TREATMENT
Skull held together with tiny screws, opening packed with antibiotic ointment and gauze.  Right eye destroyed by the force of the hit.
SEPT 29, 2004 After weeks of daily force feeding Holden accepts food and eats on her own.
Each day the little turtle has her wound cleaned and repacked with gauze, antibiotic cream and ointment.  Special antibiotics are administered as well.

The head wound is healing and the turtle is swimming and eating normally.
MAY 05
Fluid built up behind the eye socket and Holden made the trek to the vet school for surgury.  Now the healing begins again but this little fighter is making progress.

Triple antibiotice ointment fill the eye socket area.

Holden II enjoys a larger tank and is growing accustomed to seeing with one eye.
July 7, 2005

Sleeping between a pipe and hard place, her new favorite position.

She has two faces but is a beautiful Green nontheless.
