THE STRANDING  Thin, with carapace in poor condition, found south of Core Banks.     
THE TREATMENT  
Surfcity enjoys a shower

Over the long winter Surf City grew new health scutes.  HE also grew a longer tail.  That's right, that's how we know Surf City is a male sea turtle.
Surf City is in such great condition the he was selected to carry a satellite tag when he is released this month.

Surf City is outfitted with a satellite tag the day prior to release.
   
First his carapace is sanded rough and then the tag is applied with epoxy.
